Coral Wang
Owner & Winemaker, Maison des Plaisances
Since 2021, Coral has rooted her work in Sonoma Valley - farming and crafting wines that honor the long overlooked history of Chinese labor in California. Using food and wine as her platform, Coral is connecting stories from the past, and how those same themes of social and racial injustices still exist today. What began as a personal return to her Chinese heritage, has now grown into a larger momentum: reshaping who California wine is for, and who gets to lead it.
Together with many trusted partners like The 280 Project and the Vinguard, they’re amplifying voices that have been historically excluded in the wine industry, and still are today...but not for long.
By designing a multi-year scholarship fund that directly supports women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ emerging winemakers, collectively they are able to build a full spectrum pipeline - supporting everything from land access for regenerative farming, licensing, production and tasting room space, to business mentorship, brand strategy, and financial literacy. The group is collaborating with leading research institutions and climate tech innovators to create long term systems change and economic shifts.
Her vision is a “New California” built by the "New Guard" - one that heals both soil and community, rooted in people first.
